April 29, 2007Today marks exactly 2 years since I had my life changing Gastric Bypass Surgery. I sit here in awe of the journey that I’ve made and the support that has surrounded me since.
January 2005, I weighed over 330 pounds and had just lost my job at Sony Music. I had begun the process of looking inward and taking stock of my life and health. So unhappy with my health and weight, I had started getting into shape.. I then made the decision to undergo Gastric Bypass Surgery. April 12th, 2005 was the date. 3 weeks later, my good friend Ashton Allen hired me to be his Tour Manager. We hit the road in July.. by then I was down to about 275 pounds. As we toured the country, he witnessed first hand, my physical and personal transformation.
As I lost the weight, my health and self esteem began to emerge from the shell and the person whom my close friends all knew, soon became visible to the world. I’m so lucky and got a second chance at life and took that chance and ran with it. I met my love, my amazing support system, Jenny Powell at the 8 month mark and she has continued to be there for me through the ups and (few) downs of my weight loss journey.
And so many other people… I want to say THANK YOU for the love, support, and friendship. I’m at a great place in life and very glad you’re all here!
