Cell Phone = Hell Phone

So I was first made aware of the Palm Treo 600 cell phone in early 2005.  My friend and former touring partner Ashton Allen had gotten one early 2005 and swore by it.

Once we hit the road in July.. He quickly convinced me that this would be a very valuable and essential tool on the road… and boy was he right.  We hunted around and finally found ONE t-mobile store in Florida who still had it.

Hit the road… the Treo so versatile for the road… directions, IM, e-mail, you name it… it was great.

Now Had to have it replaced in December 2005.. and the new one was running great until last June where it stopped syncing up to my PC… and when HP decided to wipe out my laptop (see the laptop woes blog)… I lost the backup of my nearly 300 contacts on my cell phone.

about 2 months prior to this.. it started the trend of resetting 15 times a day.. web not working correctly, and as of yesterday, the e-mail is not working.  So about an hour on the phone with t-mobile… they first tell me that my phone is toast and since i can’t back up my numbers and contacts, I need to MANUALLY type everything into MS Outlook so that I dont lose it all.

from 12:30am until 5:30am (about 13 hours ago), I did just that.  Since I had insurance on my phone, I was covered.. T-mobile does not carry the Treo anymore… so for the payment of the $110 deductable… I’m the proud owner of a brand new “Dash” which I will have on Tuesday.

the moral of the story is that it pays to have product protection and insurance plans!
